Market Animal Sale
You are invited to a unique Sussex County event—the 4-H Market Animal Sale. It’s a great way to fill your own freezer with fresh homegrown beef, lamb, pork, or goat. Alternatively, you can donate your purchase to a local charity. Starting with the Grand Champions, this year’s Blue Ribbon quality hogs, sheep, goats and steer raised by Sussex County 4-H members, will be auctioned, raising money for the 4-H members and local charities in our community. The Sale Committee arranges all transportation, processing, and delivery. Buyers can share the purchase of an animal with friends, family and co-workers.
Buyers Social
A Social is held for the registered buyers commencing at 5:00 pm in the Sussex County Board of Agriculture Barbecue Pavilion. Buyers can enjoy a wide variety of excellent food including beef, pork, lamb, goat and rabbit (new in 2017) with fellow supporters of the Sale. The Barbecue Pavilion is across the "street" from the Livestock Arena (between the Shotwell 4-H Building and the 4-H Dairy Barn).
Reserved Seating
Special reserved seating is provided for buyers, giving you an opportunity, prior to the sale, to get to know 4-H representatives and the charities that may benefit from your contribution.
Buyer Recognition
Signs listing buyers are placed throughout the fairgrounds, and are on view all week.
Local Support
Local publicity prior to, during and after the Fair recognizes and thanks those who supported the sale.
