Dairy

Raising dairy cows has long been a part of the 4-H program. Participating in 4-H dairy clubs will teach youth:

Identification and selection of dairy cattle
Ability to demonstrate good management and health practices
Develop proper fitting and showing skills
Improve dairy consumer skills
Promote dairy products and the dairy industry

While the above skills relate directly to raising dairy cows, life skills are also taught through the program. These include:

Goal setting, decision making, problem solving,
responsibility, cooperation, self-motivation,
communications, planning and organizing,
learning to learn, keeping records, personal safety
