Dairy
Raising dairy cows has long been a part of the 4-H program. Participating in 4-H dairy clubs will teach youth:
- Identification and selection of dairy cattle
- Ability to demonstrate good management and health practices
- Develop proper fitting and showing skills
- Improve dairy consumer skills
- Promote dairy products and the dairy industry
While the above skills relate directly to raising dairy cows, life skills are also taught through the program. These include:
- Goal setting, decision making, problem solving,
responsibility, cooperation, self-motivation,
communications, planning and organizing,
learning to learn, keeping records, personal safety
